Donald G. Ezzell -- CEO
Mr. Ezzell has over 25 years of capital markets, advisory and operating company experience. Since October 2010, Mr. Ezzell has served as the CEO of Dallas Energy Group and its two operating divisions of A&D advisory and private oil and gas exploration and investment from the firm’s offices in Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles. Mr. Ezzell also leads The Owl Creek Companies, a group of energy companies operating since 1988 from offices in Houston, Texas, including Owl Creek Operating Co., Inc., Owl Creek Energy Investments, LLC, and Owl Creek Investments, Ltd. Mr. Ezzell's responsibilities include management of oil and natural gas investments, exploration and production, operations, and financial management in North America.
Mr. Ezzell has also served as an executive officer and board member of various public and private companies, and provided capital markets, M&A transaction, and corporate law services to public and private clients continuously since 1989. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, California, and Colorado. Mr. Ezzell received a bachelor’s of arts degree from UCLA in 1985 and a juris doctorate from Hastings College of the Law, University of California, San Francisco, in 1989.
David J. Huntsman -- Managing Director
Mr. Huntsman is a Managing Director in the A&D Advisory Group and has more than 20 years of experience in the investment banking industry with a special emphasis on oil, gas, and natural resource finance. He has led numerous A&D advisory teams and syndicates of institutional funds in North America, most notably a recent US$550 million divestiture transaction for a US producer.
Mr. Huntsman received his BS in 1984 from Rice University and his MBA in 1986 from the University of Texas. Mr. Huntsman began his career as an energy lender with predecessors of J.P. Morgan Chase where he financed public and private oil and gas companies from 1986-1992. Mr. Huntsman served in various capacities from 1992 through 2000 at Talisman Energy Advisors Incorporated, a large oil and gas asset management company with $2.6 billion in managed funds and assets. Mr. Huntsman served as the director of A&D advisory services and also as a director or oversight manager of several operating portfolio companies where the firm made equity investments.
Jason P. West -- Vice President
Mr. West is a Vice President in the A&D Advisory Group and has over 18 years of energy investment banking experience with major investment banking firms including Credit Suisse and Dain Rauscher Wessels. He has focused most of his career in advising oil and gas exploration and production companies as well as other energy-related companies. Mr. West has worked on a wide variety of transactions including over 35 A&D transactions with over $2.8 billion of transaction value, 25 public equity financings of over $2.0 billion, 32 public & private debt financings of over $1.9 billion and 56 private placements of over $1.4 billion, along with various strategic advisory assignments. Mr. West received his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
Trent M. Murphy -- Vice President
Mr. Murphy is a Vice President in the A&D Advisory Group. Prior to joining DEG, Mr. Murphy was an Associate with Credit Suisse in the Global Energy Group both in New York and in Houston. Mr. Murphy has worked on deal teams which executed both buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, initial public offerings, secondary equity offerings, high-yield debt underwritings, and restructurings. Mr. Murphy received his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
